Volunteers at Operation Breakthrough range in age from 8 to 80 and do everything from rocking babies to tutoring parents for the GED exam. Some come once in a while. Some come once a week. Volunteers are needed to read to preschoolers, tutor school-age children, mentor children who would benefit from spending time with a caring adult and share hobbies, such as cake decorating or stamp collecting, with small groups of children.
Volunteers with specialized skills such as electrical repair, data entry or graphic design are also needed from time to time.
All volunteers must attend an orientation session and are subject to a criminal background check, as the safety of our children is our first priority. For more information about becoming a volunteer and orientation dates at Operation Breakthrough email Debbie Skaggs or call her at (816) 329-5233.
Important: Orientation sessions are scheduled above every 2 weeks and you can call or email Debbie to register for the orientation. You are welcome to read the volunteer policies and procedures and pre-fill out the Volunteer Application, Background Check Release and Background Check Form below but please do not drop them by or mail them to Debbie prior to your scheduled orientation.
