JUNETEENTH!

Historically, Juneteenth marks the day when news of slavery’s end finally reached Texas – two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. At Operation Breakthrough, Juneteenth is an all-day festival of outdoor fun for infants through teens. This year, Eric, the 10-foot man, enchanted the children by jump-roping and dancing the Cha-Cha Slide on stilts. Firefighters sprayed water on the big kids, while the little ones hopped in and out of wading pools. Face-painting, homemade ice cream and crafts were a big hit, thanks to our friends at Lockton Companies. Four out of five babies had such a good time they fell asleep on the way back to their classrooms.
